Well, we have hit the last day of September and it finally is starting to feel like fall. In fact, as I sit here writing this post, I am curled up on my sectional, cozied under a sweater and tucked under a blanket with a mug of coffee. It feels great to bundle and not sweat, let me tell you!

It is right about now that I will insert the *I can’t believe that we are nine months into the year and that another month has come and gone* sentence. I know, it gets quite repetitive, but don’t get me wrong here – 2017 is flying by.

Overall, the month of September wasn’t too busy for me. I spent more time having fun than worrying about the stress that often comes along with school and work.

Here’s into a look of all I’ve done this past month!

  • Spent Labor Day in Lake George with my family
  • Celebrated the first day of school, kicking off a new year with new kiddos
  • Participated in the Out of the Darkness walk in Buffalo, raising money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
  •  Visited my brother at the University of Akron for a football game
  • Started back up with dance classes for the year
  • The usual work and homework and class schedule
  • Had Open House at work
  • Hung out with various members of my family and friends, concluding the month tonight by doing just that

October is my favorite month of the year and I could not be more excited to welcome it in, starting tomorrow!

What are some of your favorite things you’ve done this month? xoxo.

National coffee day | My kind of holiday

It is no surprise that coffee has slowly but surely become my best friend. I remember at a young age, probably around 10 or so, drinking “coffee” – a concoction of loads of milk and sugar and a dollop of coffee. The older I got, the more prevalent the relationship between coffee and I became. I mean, hell, just today I drank four cups – one right now as I write this post!

So, on this #NationalCoffeeDay, I’ll give a little break down of my go-to drinks at some of my favorite coffee spots:

Tim Hortons: medium dark roast coffee with one cream and two sugar

Dunkin’ Donuts: medium cold brew with two cream and one sugar, with a hazelnut flavor shot [most recently, I have been a fan of the maple pecan flavor shot – yay fall!]

Starbucks: medium iced chai latte with a shot of espresso, aka “dirty chai” [most recently I have also become a fan of the coconut milk mocha macchiato]

Spot Coffee: medium caramel macchiato

Panera Bread: caffe latte, one size

Wegmans: medium organic hazlenut coffee with one cream and one sugar

7/11: medium blueberry coffee with one cream and one sugar packet

Keurig K-Cups: Folger’s gourmet classic roast, Dunkin’ Donuts original blend, Starbucks veranda blend, The Original Donut Shop coconut mocha

Coffee creamer: Coffee Mate Natural Bliss sweet creme coconut milk, Coffee Mate Italian sweet creme coffee creamer

Are these the only places I get coffee? Nope. Usually anywhere that offers coffee, I take a cup! Today, I went so far as to even have coffee at Denny’s on my lunch break from staff development day!

What are some of your favorite coffee spots/drinks? xoxo.

Things I’m currently obsessed with | September edition.

pale_waves_niall_lea_honey

Well, friends. It’s back! [And missing the “#.0 tagline, but who really will miss that?!].

I full on expected this post to be filled with comfy and cozy sweaters, blankets, and pillows as an ode to fall and all things crisp and cozy, but, naturally, this week has already peaked at 90 degree temperatures so that is not happening. But, hey. Life goes on! Here’s some of the things I’ve been loving this month:

  1. Will and Grace. Ladies and gentlemen near and far. I have longed for the day that Will and Grace would be available to stream online. I felt as if a chunk of 90’s TV was missing and that Friends was just not enough *gasp* I know. Well, long no more! Thanks to Hulu, my prayers and dreams have been answered. I am way too excited for the revival season starting up soon and channeling all of this excitement into binge watching the past 8-seasons and 194-episodes. I have been laughing so hard, it hurts. I am already into season two and it hasn’t even been a week. No shame in my game.
  2. This is Us. Two TV shows in one post, I know.. who am I? Because my schedule is more hectic than not, I am the self-proclaimed worst at watching current TV series. Same goes for This is Us. I started this series about two months ago and just finished season 1 yesterday. Yes, I am late to the party, don’t all shame me at once. But I will go so far as to say this; this is hands-down the best show that has ever been on television. It deserves every Emmy nomination and win ever. This show is real. You connect to the characters and their struggles. You laugh, you cry, you get pissed off. You can’t get enough. Tuesday can’t come soon enough – I’m ready for season 2!
  3. Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea Latte’s from Starbucks. It is no secret from my love of Target, Pinterest, and Starbucks that I am a perfect fit for the “basic white girl” joke that continues to float around every aspect of life. I will admit – I am not the biggest pumpkin spice fan in the world. Do I hate it? No. But I was never really one to obsessively chug PSL’s every waking second of everyday. That is, until this whole pumpkin spice chai tea latte came about. The extra dose of cinnamon and spice makes this beverage taste no short of a nice slice of pumpkin pie. Add some espresso in there and you’re flying through your Monday morning. Again, due to overwhelmingly hot weather, I have not tried it hot, only iced. But it’s definitely a winner.
  4. Pale Waves “Television Romance.” I feel as if this band plopped into my life at quite the perfect time. I go though these phases where I get so sick of the music I listen to and am desperately searching for something new. All thanks to my loves, The 1975, I was introduced to this band on their most recent tour. Now, here I sit overplaying their singles, patiently waiting for their upcoming album, and debating purchasing tickets to their upcoming tour. You can listen to their newest track, here.

What are some things you can’t get enough of this month? xoxo.

I love fall most of all.

fall

“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall.” – Oscar Wilde

Yesterday marked the first day of fall and, well, you sure could fool me considering we are experiencing some near-90 degree temperatures this weekend.

If you know me, you know it’s no surprise fall is my favorite season. I love the colors of the leaves changing, the smell of the air, the football, the overall coziness that comes with all that fall has to offer. It’s also no surprise that I’ve been going a little fall crazy lately between candles, scented plug ins, decorations, pillows, blankets, candy, you name it, I’ve got it.

So although it is technically fall, I am patiently waiting for my favorite season to begin in all its glory. I am longing for the day that I can start wearing my fall wardrobe and can stop sweating every time I try to walk to my car [slightly joking, slightly not]. I know once fall ends and winter makes its way into my life, I will be mocking myself for ever wishing this warm weather away, but I just need my fresh, crisp air.

So, with that being said, happy fall everyone! What are your favorite fall traditions? xoxo.

Whole Foods | Welcome to the 716!

On Friday, September 15, 2017, Buffalo got their very first Whole Foods Market.

Happy one week anniversary!

I was only at a Whole Foods once in my entire life. It was in Cleveland and I had been talking about it ever since I went. Once I heard the news that a Whole Foods would be coming to my hometown, I spent every day from the press release three years ago to the grand opening so excited for this exact moment, and it did not disappoint.

Within the four walls of the Buffalo storefront, you can find a multitude of unique and amazing things:

  • Bar 1818 – called so as an ode to the year Amherst was founded, you can find anything from milkshakes that can be upgraded with a shot of alcohol, a pool table, and a killer menu with locally themed items such as Ru’s potato pierogi, a burger on weck, and a vast rotation of local brews.
  • More than 30 local brands to shop through, including Anchor Bar wing sauce, Lloyd Taco Factory rocket sauce, and Weber’s horseradish mustard, to name a few.
  • A bocce court in the front of the store, complete with balls straight from Italy.
  • A spatious produce area filled with perfectly stacked fruits and veggies with a neighboring bulk food station filled with pasta, granola, nuts, and trail mix.
  • A glass alcove cutting room where you are able to watch the butchers carve meats, all within a large display area for seafood and other various forms of meat that is scaled and rated from “no cages, no crates, no crowding” to “animal centered, entire life on the same farm.”
  • A bakery stocked with the most scrumptious variety of freshly baked goods with a neighboring prepared food section big enough and offering a large enough selection to eat something different every single day for at least a week.
  • A coffee and juice bar featuring endless varieties of coffee, espresso, and tea drinks.

The store has a very rustic, yet somewhat modern, feel to it. It is bright, welcoming, and perfectly stocked, especially for the large crowd that was there on opening day. I was impressed with everything from the atmosphere to the food I’d eaten in Bar 1818.

I cannot wait to go back once the “hype” dies down and I will be able to look through all of the products on a closer level, as the amount of people in the store prevented me from appreciating it as it should be.

Where: Whole Foods. 3139 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, New York, 14226.

What to try: Bar 1818 – Sweet Heat burger. A fresh burger patty topped with avocado, pineapple jalapeno relish, pepper jack , and cilantro. Absolutely to die for!

The day I tried to do my makeup like Jaclyn Hill!

As previously documented on my blog, I was one of the lucky ones to get my hands on the Jaclyn Hill palette. Sure, I’ve done some playing around myself with this palette, totally pretending that I am a makeup guru on YouTube and a total professional at this art. But the reality is, I’m just a girl in front of a dirty mirror with bad lighting who pokes herself in the eye with her mascara every. single. day.

Naturally, my inner fangirl was reeling when my girl Jaclyn posted a makeup tutorial on her YouTube channel using her palette that she considered her go-to, so I figured, hey, must be easy to have a go-to label! If you’re not feeling watching the video, the look can be seen below –

jaclyn

Granted, it was my first try at this look so I know there was absolutely no way in hell I would come anything close to looking like the queen herself. Let’s just say I am happy I carved out a chunk of my time to work on this and take my time! To achieve one look, this girl used nine colors from her palette.

jac2

The shades used were: silk cream, butter, pukey, buns, mocha, pooter, central park, enlight, and abyss. That is literally one fourth of her palette – today I was overwhelmed is a gross under-exaggeration.

Did my final look resemble that of Jaclyn’s? Truthfully, not really. Mine came out more orange-y than hers, but I still think I did pretty damn good for how hard I tried [and my first try at that]! My final result can be seen below –

I paired this look with the e.l.f. Day to Night lipstick duo in the shade Need it Nudes. I layered both ends of the lipstick duo together!

What I ended up getting out of this video was even more respect for these ladies and men out here putting on faces full of makeup in front of a camera day in and day out because, damn. Not only is it time consuming, but it is sheer talent to be able to achieve some of the looks they do.

What are some of your favorite go-to looks? xoxo.

‘Tis the season for football.

This past weekend was spent in Akron visiting my brother and going to my first football game of the season. This was the first time seeing my brother since he moved in a month ago, and we surprised him by bringing along his girlfriend for her first visit of his new “home.”

Before the game, we tailgated, naturally bringing way too much food for our own good. Pulled pork, chili, fruits, veggies, dips, desserts, and beverages – enough for a small army. During the tailgate, we met the President of the university and got some free swag to boot.

The football team at the University of Akron, not so great. The stadium, beautiful. The band, wonderful. The fact they sold Papa John’s pizza? Made my boyfriend’s day.

21551929_10211443656941971_1486816193295031218_o

Sunday brought about exploration of the city of Akron. Having the university plopped right in the middle of the city made this extremely accessible. We visited Lock 3, aka the spot Lebron James’ celebration party after the Cavs championship, as well as his high school! We were able to walk alongside the Erie Canal, making it a legitimate realization that Akron really isn’t that far from home!

Overall, the experience was great. [Although, we all sweated our little butts off, as it was 85 degrees – happy September!] Looking forward to family weekend in a few more weeks! xoxo.
