One chapter closes.

Guys, I know I have been talking about it for what seems like forever now, but the day has officially arrived [and finished as of 3pm today]…..I never have to work at the mall ever again.

It was somewhat bittersweet leaving a job that I have been at most of my young-adult life, but more than anything, I was am so beyond excited to leave this experience behind. I know there are so many great things ahead of me and I have never felt more ready than I am now to start on this journey.

I walked into work this morning to a plethora of Panera Bread catering [*swoons*], presents, and cards and the first thing I thought of was, foooooood. Some of my favorite customers came in today. And I made it through a shift without a customer nonchalantly yelling at me over a coupon or telling me I do not know my company’s corporate policies *rolls eyes* which made today pretty great.

I have worked with such a solid core these last 4 years – my management team welcomed me with open arms and my employees, although some came and went, have all become like family to me.

I now have the next 5 days off to go to Long Island, and I start my new job on Monday! So, cheers to me and having some time to finally maybe relax and focus on my school and on myself. Major pat on the back to myself, but hey, I think I deserve it. xoxo.

Unless you have been living under a rock these past 24 hours, you will know all the drama that Oscars 2017 offered. I mean, how can you not feel bad for the La La Land cast?

Is good really great?

This week for my one class, our major discussion had to do with why agencies or companies, or people don’t always make the transition from good to great. We had to read a book by Jim Collins ever-so-simply named Good to Great: Why Some Companies Take the Leap…and Others Don’t. 

The first few chapters of this book, I could not be any more bored than I was reading this book. It was basically written from a marketing standpoint for big business or any corporation in general, and marketing is not by background, or anything I am even really  interested in for that matter. But as I continued reading, it began to make sense as to why we had to read it for this “Community Interrelationships” course, and it really got me thinking – why don’t we always strive to be better? Why do we settle for what we have?

I mean, most obviously, it is easy. If you like your job, your relationship, your friendships, your neighborhood, etc., why would you change it? Sure it’s not a $7.2 million dollar mansion, but it’s a nice house and you get by. It only makes sense that we don’t want to change because as the saying goes “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” But why?

I am just as guilty of this myself as the next person is. The bills are getting paid, the education is almost complete, the neighborhood is perfect, but why am I okay with all this staying the same? There are times that I think I am pushing myself for more success, but am I really? Honestly, probably not.

How much have we actually changed when we said we would?

One thing I learned from this is that you should never be satisfied. You should always be hungry for more. You should want to do more, learn more, see more, know more. And on the flip side, you should push others do want to do the same. Be your own motivator while motivating others, and everyone will win.

We only have one shot at this crazy thing called life. Because of that, we may as well be the best version of ourselves that we can be.  xoxo.

 

How super.

The last two days have been a whirlwind of crazy.

Yesterday was not only my dad’s birthday, but it was a big day for my brother. His varsity hockey team has made it to the championships on Sunday, so yesterday was “media day” followed by a skills competition, similar to the one they do for NHL All-Star Weekend.

He had a shot at talking to the press and meeting with former Buffalo Sabres star, Patrick Kaleta, followed by a meal at Chef’s and a shot in the competition.

The big game is on Sunday, followed by a trip to Long Island for States next weekend. So between getting everything done before my last day of work and going to class, I have been trying to cram all my homework and projects into the next few days to ensure that I don’t miss any of these final moments. Because of this, my blog has suffered.

Thankfully tonight I have had a little bit of down time and hopefully things will start to die down the next couple of days and I can be back into my normal routine. xoxo.

 

Wednesday aesthetic.

My weeks cycle in a pretty continuous pattern as they progress from one to the next. On Wednesdays, my days are usually pretty relaxed.

  • Wake up.
  • Chug coffee.
  • Eat breakfast.
  • Chug more coffee.
  • Go to school.
  • Do homework.
  • Grab food.
  • Do more homework.
  • Drive to Buffalo.
  • Hangout with my boyfriend.
  • Pass out.

Having some consistency is pretty good, but sometimes it can seem pretty repetitive or boring. So today to change it up a little bit, I decided to grab lunch at my not-so-usual spot, Bagel Jay’s. I am a huge fan of their food, so I am practically drooling all over again as I write this post.

After looking at their ginormous menu, I had decided on an Albuquerque Turkey sandwich. This sandwich contains roasted turkey, red pepper jalapeño schemer, lettuce, and tomato. I got it on an everything bagel [not toasted], with a side of potato salad. My favorite part of Bagel Jay’s lunch is that their sandwiches come with a crisp, dill pickle. I mean, just look at this thing. I am obsessed.

Vitamins? Sunshine? Help!

The other day I had a follow-up appointment with my doctor to double check a few things that came up about 6 weeks ago [nothing serious, just some asthma difficulties]. After doing blood work, my doc found that I have a extreme Vitamin D deficiency. She prescribed me a Vitamin D booster to take once a week for 12 weeks, and then to continue with a normal over-the counter regimen. I am honestly so excited for my energy levels to increase with the introduction of these nutrients, because this winter has me feeling so sluggish lately!

Now naturally, I am not surprised due to the fact that I live in Western New York – it’s super dreary and overall, very blah here throughout the winter – and of course I’m suuuper pasty, so clearly I am lacking in the Vitamin D world.

So, with that being said, I am reaching out to my peeps via blog to ask – what are some ways that you help to keep your vitamin D levels boosted? I obviously am going to do the booster and take vitamins regularly after the 12 weeks, but if there is are any other little tricks and tips that you have, send them my way!
