One chapter closes.

Guys, I know I have been talking about it for what seems like forever now, but the day has officially arrived [and finished as of 3pm today]…..I never have to work at the mall ever again.

It was somewhat bittersweet leaving a job that I have been at most of my young-adult life, but more than anything, I was am so beyond excited to leave this experience behind. I know there are so many great things ahead of me and I have never felt more ready than I am now to start on this journey.

I walked into work this morning to a plethora of Panera Bread catering [*swoons*], presents, and cards and the first thing I thought of was, foooooood. Some of my favorite customers came in today. And I made it through a shift without a customer nonchalantly yelling at me over a coupon or telling me I do not know my company’s corporate policies *rolls eyes* which made today pretty great.

I have worked with such a solid core these last 4 years – my management team welcomed me with open arms and my employees, although some came and went, have all become like family to me.

I now have the next 5 days off to go to Long Island, and I start my new job on Monday! So, cheers to me and having some time to finally maybe relax and focus on my school and on myself. Major pat on the back to myself, but hey, I think I deserve it. xoxo.

And the Academy award goes to..

Unless you have been living under a rock these past 24 hours, you will know all the drama that Oscars 2017 offered. I mean, how can you not feel bad for the La La Land cast?

Is good really great?

This week for my one class, our major discussion had to do with why agencies or companies, or people don’t always make the transition from good to great. We had to read a book by Jim Collins ever-so-simply named Good to Great: Why Some Companies Take the Leap…and Others Don’t.

The first few chapters of this book, I could not be any more bored than I was reading this book. It was basically written from a marketing standpoint for big business or any corporation in general, and marketing is not by background, or anything I am even really  interested in for that matter. But as I continued reading, it began to make sense as to why we had to read it for this “Community Interrelationships” course, and it really got me thinking – why don’t we always strive to be better? Why do we settle for what we have?

I mean, most obviously, it is easy. If you like your job, your relationship, your friendships, your neighborhood, etc., why would you change it? Sure it’s not a $7.2 million dollar mansion, but it’s a nice house and you get by. It only makes sense that we don’t want to change because as the saying goes “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” But why?

I am just as guilty of this myself as the next person is. The bills are getting paid, the education is almost complete, the neighborhood is perfect, but why am I okay with all this staying the same? There are times that I think I am pushing myself for more success, but am I really? Honestly, probably not.

How much have we actually changed when we said we would?

One thing I learned from this is that you should never be satisfied. You should always be hungry for more. You should want to do more, learn more, see more, know more. And on the flip side, you should push others do want to do the same. Be your own motivator while motivating others, and everyone will win.

We only have one shot at this crazy thing called life. Because of that, we may as well be the best version of ourselves that we can be.  xoxo.

How super.

The last two days have been a whirlwind of crazy.

Yesterday was not only my dad’s birthday, but it was a big day for my brother. His varsity hockey team has made it to the championships on Sunday, so yesterday was “media day” followed by a skills competition, similar to the one they do for NHL All-Star Weekend.

He had a shot at talking to the press and meeting with former Buffalo Sabres star, Patrick Kaleta, followed by a meal at Chef’s and a shot in the competition.

The big game is on Sunday, followed by a trip to Long Island for States next weekend. So between getting everything done before my last day of work and going to class, I have been trying to cram all my homework and projects into the next few days to ensure that I don’t miss any of these final moments. Because of this, my blog has suffered.

Thankfully tonight I have had a little bit of down time and hopefully things will start to die down the next couple of days and I can be back into my normal routine. xoxo.

Wednesday aesthetic.

My weeks cycle in a pretty continuous pattern as they progress from one to the next. On Wednesdays, my days are usually pretty relaxed.

  • Wake up.
  • Chug coffee.
  • Eat breakfast.
  • Chug more coffee.
  • Go to school.
  • Do homework.
  • Grab food.
  • Do more homework.
  • Drive to Buffalo.
  • Hangout with my boyfriend.
  • Pass out.

Having some consistency is pretty good, but sometimes it can seem pretty repetitive or boring. So today to change it up a little bit, I decided to grab lunch at my not-so-usual spot, Bagel Jay’s. I am a huge fan of their food, so I am practically drooling all over again as I write this post.

After looking at their ginormous menu, I had decided on an Albuquerque Turkey sandwich. This sandwich contains roasted turkey, red pepper jalapeño schemer, lettuce, and tomato. I got it on an everything bagel [not toasted], with a side of potato salad. My favorite part of Bagel Jay’s lunch is that their sandwiches come with a crisp, dill pickle. I mean, just look at this thing. I am obsessed.

If you are from the WNY area and you have not been there, go. If you are from WNY and have not been there in a while, go. If you are from WNY and were just there yesterday, or today for that matter, go again. You won’t be disappointed.

Also, if you want to be a part of my crazy little story time via Twitter, enjoy this little text thread and laugh along with me. xoxo.

**This is not sponsored, I just really love good food.

That new-new.

Okay, so it is not technically brand new considering it is a cover of a song, but I’m taking this opportunity of saying it is new and running with it. [New music only makes me that much more excited to go see this band in May! If that seems even remotely possible].

This cover of Sade’s By Your Side  was recorded to benefit War Child, a charity that protects and supports children that have been in some way, shape, or form, been affected by war.

Listen to the song and Matty’s interview here, and swoon over this band/this man just as I am right now [and everyday of my life, for that matter].

Also, can we talk about the corduroy suit/turtleneck combo. And the shaved sides, which can be seen here. Because, it is everything. xoxo.

Vitamins? Sunshine? Help!

The other day I had a follow-up appointment with my doctor to double check a few things that came up about 6 weeks ago [nothing serious, just some asthma difficulties]. After doing blood work, my doc found that I have a extreme Vitamin D deficiency. She prescribed me a Vitamin D booster to take once a week for 12 weeks, and then to continue with a normal over-the counter regimen. I am honestly so excited for my energy levels to increase with the introduction of these nutrients, because this winter has me feeling so sluggish lately!

Now naturally, I am not surprised due to the fact that I live in Western New York – it’s super dreary and overall, very blah here throughout the winter – and of course I’m suuuper pasty, so clearly I am lacking in the Vitamin D world.

So, with that being said, I am reaching out to my peeps via blog to ask – what are some ways that you help to keep your vitamin D levels boosted? I obviously am going to do the booster and take vitamins regularly after the 12 weeks, but if there is are any other little tricks and tips that you have, send them my way! I’d love to learn more! xoxo.

L O V E.

There has been so much love in the air lately, that it’s hard not to get caught up in the madness! Between Valentine’s Day, and of course, scrolling through your social media feed and seeing a new engagement/wedding/pregnancy announcement post every single day will get you in the mood to radiate nothing but these positive, loving vibes.

I did this before back in January regarding strength, so it only seemed fitting do do it again with love. Here’s some of my favorite verses describing none other than this wonderful feeling!

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. but there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.”

1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

1 John 3:16-18 “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If any one has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

1 John 4:18-19 “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us.”

1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.”

Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”

Mark 12:31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as your self. There is no commandment greater than these.'”

Proverbs 3:3-4 “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”

Romans 12:9-10 “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

Romans 13:10 “Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”

When you wish upon a star.

With the exciting news that I’ve gotten a new [*ahem* real] job with steady paycheck, the question most frequently asked is “What are you gonna buy with your first paycheck?!”

If I had to make a top list of thing’s I’d totally splurge on and purchase, it would be these:

Screen Shot 2017-02-17 at 5.35.22 PM.png

  1. Kate Spade 13″ Saffiano Laptop Bag in Toasted Wheat Multi
  2. Warby Parker Blair Glasses in RoseGold
  3. Quay Australia Jetlag Sunglasses
  4. Zara Multicoloured Printed Trousers with Contrast Belt
  5. asos New Look Suedette Slingback Heeled Ankle Boot
  6. Urban Outfitters Louise Femme Medallion Duvet Cover in White

Why do we always blame time? Bad relationship? Blame it on the timing. Caught up in a negative situation? You were in the wrong place at the wrong time. This excuse seems to be used more often than not. But, why?

I have been guilty of doing this myself. I have endlessly blamed myself for when things didn’t go my way. I have thought, “well, I didn’t deserve it” or “it wasn’t meant to be,” etc. It has taken years, but I have started to figure it out. If there is one thing I have learned, it’s that when something doesn’t happen the way you want it to at one specific time in your life, it is because better things are ahead that you can’t see yet.

Timing should not be considered disgraceful. Instead, it should be reflective. When something doesn’t go our way, we should not be obsessed with the negativity – this should be a reason for us to work harder, to push though, to find the better, right, things ahead, to not give up.

“Bad timing” prepares you for the one. The love you need. The education you want. The job you deserve. Time allows you to heal. Time allows you to remove any doubts. Time does not hate you. Time is on your side.

So, next time something doesn’t go your way, don’t blame timing in a negative light. Blame it positively. Don’t blame yourself. Instead, get yourself ready for the greater things to come. Thank a higher power for giving you more time to heal, more time to grow. Everything is a blessing, sometimes you just have to wait a little longer to get it. xoxo.
